Come from the
Heart - December 2001:
|
|
Charity CD for the British Heart Foundation.
A compilation of tracks recorded
by players at Tuesday Unplugged Open Mic night
run every Tuesday by Root Chords at Alexanders
in Chester since May 2000.
By the time we’d been running
the open mic nights for over a year we felt that
some of the regular performers were so good they
deserved some publicity.
|
|
 |
We
asked them to get some recordings together and donate
them to a good cause and this they did willingly.
They got good reviews, BHF got some money. Result
- everybody happy.
We used to put the occasional guest performer on
as well and we featured some real stars –
Show of Hands, Martin Simpson, Glenn Tilbrook to
name but a few. Phil Beer kindly donated the last
track on the CD to represent all the guest performers.

About: |
| Bill
Malkin |
Excellent
country-rock from South Africa and a great
line in unusual subjects for songs. On these
tracks he's accompanied by Graham Bellinger,
Mick Horton and Dave Manley.
|
| Phil
Gregory |
A
fine all-round musician who knows what the
dots mean! And a really classy songwriter
to boot. Phil's accompanied by Dominic Sales
and Sean Miller. |
| Spiderbaby |
Adrian
Dear and Ian Southerton. They take care of
the sound, Ade writes great songs, they book
up other performers when asked and they always
blow us off the stage. |
| Tom
Monahan |
Globe-Trotting
Tom is always welcome when he comes back to
us with his intense performances and great
songs. Here he is, all alone and recorded
in Las Vegas. Gosh! |
| Graham
Bellinger |
A
couple of solo performances from your M.C.
with Bill Malkin on the bass.
|
| The
Phil Beer Band |
As
well as our local heroes, we've had occasional
guest performances by visiting superstars,
(Stand up and take a bow Martin Simpson, Show
of Hands, Steve Philips, Glenn Tilbrook, Little
Johnny England and the family Mahone).

Well,
they had to let us in... Graham, Mike, Mick
and Tony just want to say thanks to you all
for the support. Without you we could have
an early night on Tuesday. |
Technical:
Greg and Bill Malkin who helped us get
this onto CD
Thanks To:
Phil and his fine band for representing
all our guests on this CD and for contributing this
track to a good cause. (And how did we manage to
get two songs about Jesse James on one album? Spooky
or what?)
Pauline, Rod and the bosses behind the bar
And now a big drum roll for the raffle...
